A fourth person who was believed to have contracted COVID from the dealership also died but did not meet the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s (CDPHE) case definition to be added to the outbreak fatality list. San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) reported that the first case in the outbreak was identified June 19. After that initial case, 11 other individuals have been detected. Five of those linked to the outbreak have been confirmed by CDPHE full-genome sequencing as cases of the Delta variant....

The update comes as part of an expansion of the state’s vaccine rollout, in which Salt Lake County has been gradually decreasing the age limit for a vaccine by one year over the past few days. On February 19, the vaccine was available to people aged 69 or over. Salt Lake County Health Department urged those who are eligible for a vaccine to step forward. The COVID vaccines have been shown to be safe and effective for pregnant people. The new data also provides reassurance to parents that their babies will also get the shots’ benefits. Researchers looked at 379 infants under the age of 6 months in 17 states. Of the babies in the study, 176 had COVID and 203 did not have COVID. The babies were seen at 20 different children’s hospitals in the United States from July 2021 to January 2022....

Experts have been concerned about the possibility for a COVID-19 variant to evade vaccines, thereby putting even those who have been inoculated at risk. However, a new study from Harvard found variants with partial immune escape cause a less severe impact on the pandemic, in part because they’re more likely to cause breakthrough infections or reinfections, which tend to have more mild symptoms. “Partial immune escape can have severe consequences, but mainly when paired with enhanced transmissibility,” the study, published on Thursday in Cell, found....

Responding to a fan’s tweet, the official Twitter account promoting Crackdown 3 revealed that the game will “indeed” be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. Play Anywhere games allow players to buy it on either Xbox One or PC and unlock a copy on the other platform. The game’s publisher Microsoft has been pushing the program in a big way and so the fact that Crackdown 3 is part of it comes as little surprise....

In the wake of George Floyd’s death on May 25, several NBA players joined protests against police brutality and racial discrimination. Last month, players and teams reiterated their commitment to social change, with the Milwaukee Bucks boycotting Game 5 of their playoffs series against the Orlando Magic to protest the police shooting of Jacob Blake. The NBA has been largely supportive of the players, allowing them to take a knee during the national anthem and wear social justice messages on their jerseys, while the Black Lives Matter logo has been displayed on the court in all the venues hosting games in the NBA bubble in Orlando, Florida....
